Further west now on the northern side of the
Gulf of Cariaco, we enter Laguna Chica. It is adjacent to Laguna Grande
which itself is a deeply indented lagoon. Laguna Chica is not so large or
so desolate, but appears to have a shoreside oasis with a desert landscape
behind. There is a small fishing village to at the head of the lagoon,
where we went ashore for a coldie. It was like a mexican town in a
spagetti western, with goats and chickens running in and out of the bar,
music playing, there was little there, a small church and some fishing
boats and their associated dwellings. A nice protected anchorage, good for
a night but in the morning we were off to Coche
Island. |
