Our position at the end of today is 12.00.68N 61.44.31W
We arrived here at Hog Island yesterday 21st April, Prickly Bay was very
rolly and despite being a nice place we decided to go a little further
east along the coast to Clarkes Court Bay. We anchored off Hog Island, you
can be as sociable or unsociable as you want here, there are so many places to
anchor. Having been in a busy anchorage in Prickly, we decided to anchor in the
lee of Hog Island, in the second photo in the background you can see a few
sailboats at anchor, but there is no way through that patch of water between us,
it's about 2 feet deep. Only a dinghy can pass there, and no sooner had we
anchored, put our feet up with a book and a coldy than we had a visitor. An
American that we'd heard on the net, he has spent 5 years here in more or less
same spot, apart from when Ivan visited. His first words were have you got any
clothes on? after he'd taken a look in the cockpit. Didn't want to impose,
thought I'd come and say hello, we had a brief chat, he said how he does a bit
of maintenance on boats, one boat he said the woman came out naked, she said she
need a bit of work doing on deck, so he said well if the owner is naked can the
workmen be? to which she agreed, so he said 'I went back and got the wife'. he
then told us of a restaurant across the water, and said if we want to skinny dip
on a nice beach, he would take us over, err! thanks very much, don't
call us, we'll call you. telling us of another place of interest he said,
if you want to come to our boat for a beer we can skinny dip there together.
What a purve! still it takes all sorts, he even said if a boat comes over and
anchors nearby, he takes his shorts off and walks up on deck. Do that with me
around and he'd get an airgun pellet  up his arse!
Anyway, our purvey friend went back to his boat and we were then left
alone. It was a nice overnight anchorage, albeit windy, in fact it's the first
time our wind genny has kept up with demand. Coming morning, after the
obligatory 3 cups of tea, we took a ride in Digby, we motored around to
Clarkes Court Bay Marina and went ashore. The Marina was lovely and
the owner Bob Blanc welcoming. We had a chat about bringing Chaser ll
in for a few days when the new generator arrives. The price is 61US cents a
foot, a good price. We will come there for the work but in the meantime we
decided to up anchor and move round in the bay outside the
marina.
After lunch we went over to the opposite side of the bay to check out the
area and a local bar restaurant. It's Sunday today so everything is closed part
from Rogers Restaurant, we're going there tonite. I'll let you know what it's
like and the surrounding area of Woburn next
time.
