Chaser 2

We departed Carenero at about 4am, we had a 72 mile trip in front of us and if wind and tide was against us we could have a 14 hour journey. Fortunately the sea was calm and the wind picked up from the NNE at 15 knots allowing us a beautiful beam reach sail to Islas Piritu, two small islands 20 miles east of our destination of Puerto De La Cruz.

For the first time for a long time Chaser was in front, in the groove as it were and the Waylanders found it difficult to catch up. We had the full headsail out but a reef in the main, as did Waylander. Waylander did gain on us though after shaking out his reefed mainsail, actually gained on us remarkable quickly, is that exhaust smoke I see trailing behind him I wonder! He says it wasn't but, well, I mean, how can they catch up so quick. Even Chris was over the stern pushing. Still it makes for a nice picture, look closely you may see Chris's fins splashing in the wake, obviously keeping her head down to avoid the fumes..
