Thursday. Still in Falmouth; the abatement in wind and waves forecast by WindGuru seems to move back by one day every day so will now stay until next week. Been doing a few jobs (is that now the fifth time James has stripped down the electric toilet, each time accompanied by voluble bad language?)
Watched Toby come into Falmouth Marina on Nahlin, and had a good meal with him, Nadine and Oli at RumBaBa's on Tuesday - but then discovered they don't take cards - fortunately when we all emptied wallets and purses we had enough to avoid embarrassment.
Yesterday, another tick off James' bucket list - a helicopter ride to Monserrat for him and Rosemary along with Sid and Peggy. Monserrat has an active volcano, which first erupted in 1995, with subsequent major eruptions in 1997 and 2006, when much rebuilding had taken place. The capital, Plymouth, was destroyed, and much of it is now buried in lava and ash, and all over the South of the island there are abandoned and ruined houses, and a bleak landscape of lava and rocks which still changes on a daily basis; an exclusion zone, but still can be approached by helicopter.
After another windy night, today we plan to change all three service batteries - one has failed, and all the advice is to swap all batteries together.
