Back in St Pierre, with very limited internet access.  We have spent 2 days here, further exploring the remains of buildings devastated by the volcano, ad eating ashore.

Yesterday we visited the remains of the mental hospital;  parts of this are still below ashes, but most has been uncovered and the lock up cells, hydrotherapy rooms, and even some restraining chairs are still there.  There were 200 inmates at the tie, with nurses and nuns;  none survived the volcano.

Everywhere in St Pierre there are reminders of the volcano;  even houses built after then have often used boundary walls from the remains.

Today we set off for Roseau, where we plan to stay overnight, then go to Portsmouth, again just overnight, and then Basse Terre on Guadeloupe where we may stay for a few days.
