So... as you may have worked out, we can see land. We had gybed onto our final layline to find that the course was very tight.... a straight reach with AWA of 90/100 degrees at 18 knots. We held the cruising chute until the 14mm tack line snapped in two pieces.... at which point we reattached it and put it back up!! was a pretty extreme sail, a few broaches... average speed for the last half hour was around 9 knots! we have doused the kite now as it was getting a bit silly, and now just under jib and main 5 miles out. hopefully will be tied up in the next hour or two. Unfortunately it is no longer sunny, and rather overcast... but still very very warm! will update when we are settled in for the evening.
