Lack of internet access (plus a temperamental computer) has delayed blogging – so I am now on catch up.

We left Rodney Bay, St Lucia at 06.25 arriving at St Pierre, Martinique at 11.45.  Double reefed main and genoa, beam reach – log not working but GPS showed us doing 7 – 9 knots;  surprisingly the wind held behind Dominique until half an hour before St Pierre.  New anchor deployed set and held well, although we will have to have some mods made to the anchor holder on the boat.

We spent the next 3 nights in St Pierre, longer than planned, but we could only clear out through customs on Monday.  But it gave us longer to explore the town, and we spent some time looking at the remains of the prison, mental hospital and army buildings which had been destroyed in the volcano of 1902.

We also met up with Ian and Gerry from “Spray” who had been on the pontoon opposite us in Rodney Bay, and had a great meal out with them at the Alsace Restaurant.

Pictures of St Pierre waterfront, and of the cells of the mental hospital.
