Sunday night in Deshaises, the wind dropped and changed direction and the crew were up from 02.30 keeping an eye out as we were swinging too close to the adjacent boat for comfort. Come daylight, the boat left, so James took the tender, parked it on the vacated mooring buoy and swam back to True Colours. (Shades of deckchairs, towels and Germans). After a cup of tea we moved True Colours onto the buoy..
Yesterday we hired a car and looked around the northern part of Guadaloupe. James almost went to sleep ( one nameless crew member did!) as a reaction to the previous night but we enjoyed the spectacular scenery and were amazed by the quantity of sugar cane being transported to the rum distillery.
Left Deshaises this morning at 09.30. Light winds behind Guadaloupe and then better in the channel but variable direction. We arrived in Portsmouth at 17.00, and Seabird (Geoffrey) took us to a mooring. On the way we saw at various times turtles, flying fish, Dolphins, and the breath of a whale (James claims).
Now in Blue Sky Bar. Good beer, good food and good internet. It's throwing it down with rain, so a few more beers may be needed and food has been ordered. Geoffrey is picking us up at 7am for the infamous ride up the Indian River!
