Left Falmouth at 07.20 on Friday, and arrived in Charlestown, Nevis, at 15.30. Started out OK, sunny but the winds were a bit light, so we motored until clear of Antigua. After that tried sailing for about an hour but the wind was light and almost behind us, so rather than slop around we started the motor again.
Had several squalls coming through, with heavy rain and gusts, so the order of the day was lifejackets, harnesses and optimism that it really will end.
Memo to skipper: make sure that you have sail ties through all the reefing points when reefed; otherwise the sail becomes a big sloppy rainwater collector.
Nevis is pretty quiet with lots of spare moorings (picked up first time!) although there are two superyachts here from the Antigua Show, Nero and Mogambo.
Now almost sunset; we have been watching schools of flying fish jumping in unison, with the sun glinting off their silver scales. Almost time for sundowners!
