Went ashore yesterday, dodging the showers which are frequent and heavy.  Ate in a pleasant restaurant, from their set menu.  Main course was goat - was a bit like lamb shank.  We enjoyed the meal but both of us suffered some after affects, and stayed in for the evening eating just bread and cheese.
Unfortunately we have completely mislaid our anchor hook, so without a snubber the chain was noisy against the bow rollers - and increasingly noisy as the wind started to howl down.  However, we could tell from the plotter that our anchor was holding firm.
Then, at about midnight while we were both trying to sleep there was a tremendous noise from the anchor chain - we thought it might have run free.  Battery switch change to "engine", dash up to the cockpit, see a tender drifting down past us, and a boat to windward of us very much closer than it should be.  Start the engine, then assess.  The boat above us rapidly started its engine, and motored off downwind chasing its tender, returning half an hour later, complete with tender, and re-anchored some way away from us.  We stayed in the cockpit, with the engine on, for another half hour or so, before the wind started to abate and we went down to sleep in the saloon.
This morning the owner of the other boat came along to apologise.  His anchor had not held, he had drifted down close to us, started to motor upwind, but his tender was caught around our anchor chain (he must have come very close - he said he had had to fend us off at one stage).  So after towing us upwind for a brief time he cut his dinghy loose, and made his escape.  Close shave!
