Still in Falmouth ....

Yes, we’re still in Falmouth, and this is the only Falmouth we know, where it rains and rains …. and rains.  It’s déjà vu from a year ago …..!!  But it’s lovely and we really don’t mind the rain, and we’re loving the cooler climate!  (Though we hear there’s been a heatwave in the rest of the UK)

Our first few days here were spent celebrating and tasting the local ales with Gerry on “Per Mare”, and a couple of other boats who arrived (who we met in the Caribbean and the Azores).  Jon and Kate had to go home on Monday 5th, (sad, sad farewells, we’ve had such a fantastic time with them), and I promised dear Jon I’d look after his allotment in the port hull (never have you seen so many sprouting lentils, beans, and other sprouty things…)  Gerry left for his home port of Portsmouth a few days later, (after 3 years away sailing).  And it suddenly went very quiet on our pontoon!!

Last weekend, Jonathan, Astrid and their girls Mia and Lucia drove down to join us.  It was great to see them again and we had a lovely time onboard catching up, and exploring Falmouth.  Even the sun joined us for a while.

We have been here a while longer than planned as we had an offer, out of the blue, from someone locally who came knocking on her hull, to buy Talulah.  It was a rollercoaster ride of emotions, as even though we know our reason for sailing her home is to sell her, the sudden realisation that we would be saying goodbye to our beloved Talulah hit us hard!  Once we got used to the notion, he then reluctantly had to withdraw his offer (until a later date?)

We then missed the right weather window to start sailing east (Gale force winds expected over next couple of days).  So Shane and I now plan to sit out the worst of it, and hopefully set sail on Thursday for Dartmouth (approx 10 hrs) and then to Weymouth (another 10 hrs) on Friday.  From there we’ll make our way back into the Solent next week, weather dependant.  Still not sure where yet, and we’re considering hauling Talulah out for a week or two …..    in the meantime, we’re wondering how many more Cornish pasties we can stuff down ….
