PREVEZA TOWN QUAY
4TH MAY
Arrived Preveza and took a walk ashore. At present
not too many boats so we have timed coming here just right. We are moored
alongside a string of 'taverns' which would be great for the
'girls'.
After a souvlaki and pitta supper we settled down
for a well earned rest only to be awaken at around midnight by loud music and
someone trying to sing at one of the local bars!!! This is definetly not a spot
if you want to sleep at night as a sudden chorus erupted from some other
neighbouring bars as if there was some sort of contest underway for the
loudest and worst music one could imagine! Even Lilly put her paws over her
ears!!
Then once this died down aroud 4am we thought we
would finally get some peace, alas this was not to be as at around 5am just as we
were drifting off into slumberland we were awoken by knocking on the boat next
door.
The PortPolice were trying to awaken them, we
thought they were wanting to move people on and thought what a stupid time to do
this when everyone is fast asleep. The 2nd boat in front of us left the quayside
and moved into the marina, meanwhile the Port Police where having no luck in
trying to awaken our neighbours, the police did't seem to be concerned with us
,so we settled down yet again.
6am all hell let loose and we were surrounded by
fishing boats trying to tie up to the harbour wall in order to sell their catch
to the local fish taverns, fish vendors were shouting to promote the sale of
their wares etc.and a real melee followed.
We thought well we might as well get up and make a
cup of tea as it couldn't get any worse and we were wide awake by this stage. The
next thing a wacking great liner appeared out of no where and proceeded to moor
in front of us,we couldn't believe it but soon realised why the police where
trying to arouse the 2 boats in front of us as they were very close to where
this liner was going to dock!
Our biggest neighbour
thus far!!!
I decided to watch the docking and then go walking
early to 'Carrefour', which is about 3kms away as rain was forecast for
later in the day.
