Subject: Gran Canaria (c)

We have spent the time with visiting yet more chandleries to sort out various teething problems with the boat and awaiting spares to come from the mainland.A never ending story when one is lucky enough to own a boat! We have had a couple of excursions to the south of the island and further inland. The North is much nicer in our opinion as it is not so 'touristy, the south being totally designed for the tourist. We were told that we must visit the south to see the sand dunes which are enormous and are certainly worth a visit, the area has been the location of many a film set as it is just like being in the middle of the dessert. The difference being just over the horizon is the usual island of sunbeds occupied by mainly German tourists and the smell of fast foods. The landscape here in GC is very varied from very lush in the interior and very arid and barren to the south.

Mark on not so sunny a day Maspalomas.
