Messolonghi hold a market every Tuesday and Saturday morning, so it being Saturday we were keen to see what the market was like.Walked into town with Rick and Barbara and visited a couple of the local churches along the way.

We think we will probarbly keep quite fit here as the walk takes about 20 minutes into town and bicycles seem to be the favourite mode of transport. The town is quite commercial and we were amazed at the amount of coffee shops in the various squares.
Found a statue of Lord Byron outside a museum and discovered that he was a national hero here for supporting the Greek war effort in its fight for Independance..Many men are named after him and also quite a few streets.
We also discovered that the Lagoon we had seen on our arrival through the channel is called the Klisova Lagoon and is the largest natural wetland in Greece and is an important breeding ground for the Damatian Pelican.
