Well we knew it couldn't be true, the Yanmar agent has refused to come out to the boat to sort out our problem although we are only about 500yards from a slip way. They are wanting us to come into the marina to come alongside in order for them to come aboard. The marina informs us that they have no room for us so we have reached a stale mate situation.Mark then rings the main office in Palma telling them of our dilemma, lots of phone calls later and before you know it the marina have a space for us for one night!!!
We lifted our anchor and headed for the marina,Club de Vella. The actual marina is quite nice although it lacks internet facilities,it has instead a pool.We made straight for this to cool off and get our heads in order as we are feeling quite browned off at the present time.Amazing to think in little old Formentera the Yanmar agent did not have any qualms about coming to the boat and we were on a mooring quite some distance from the harbour.
The engineers arrived the next morning to change the oil in the port side engine, they had to use Marks equipment as their valve did not fit our part!!!Mark may as well of done the oil change himself. That afternoon we decided to head for Las Illetas about 5 miles from Palma. We had good winds 18knts plus and were able to sail for about 1hr 45 mins, then they began to turn and were gusting at 25knts plus so we decided to put sails away and motor the last 5 miles. We are due for a lift out in Palma early Friday morning but the Yanmar engineer will not be able to inspect until Monday!!.
The bay here is good for anchoring nice sandy bottom, with patches of weed.Open to south westerly though. We anchored in about 6 meters and dived down to check the anchor was well dug in, which it was so we have settled here for the night with a couple of 'sun downers'.
