It is so lovely to be here in the sunshine and now that  the provisions and shopping have been sorted out we can all start to relax and enjoy the festivities. We managed to find a little Christmas tree and bought some twinkle lights.and with the garlands that Trinity put up the boat is looking quite 'Christmassy'.We were lucky to find a hire car, apparently the last one left. When the Cruise liners come in it is common practice for the visiting passengers to monopolise the hiring of the cars.We decided it would be useful to hire a car for the week to enable us to visit our relatives in El Sauzal and also to explore a little of the island.
The Christmas Eve gathering was very entertaining with Antonio in charge of the BBQ.He had bought a whole pig that day and was determined that it was all going to be eaten that  night. His sister had made Canarian soup and beans and in a wooden rack was a cured leg of pork which was 12 years old. This apparently is equivalent to our Turkey and is very much a traditional Xmas delicacy, cut thinly it is delicious.Margaret had made mincepies to add a little English fayre. The younger children were getting quite excited as Santa arrived and they are given one small gift to open. Then they will have to wait until the 6th to complete the celebrations. It was a good night but it was nice to get back onboard to a little peace and tranquillity.
Christmas Day!
We all had a good lay in recovering from the night before and then we had our traditional champagne breakfast.Santa had visited so opening of the presents was next.
Weather was a bit overcast but it did not deter us from spending the afternoon on the beach and we all braved the somewhat cool water to have a Christmas swim!
Christmas Dinner was an assortment of shell fish and prawn curry and rice with more champagne. The live music from the nearby stage was a bonus and we were treated to  a splendid fireworks display and all viewed from our ringside seat on the boat!
Tomorrow our extra guests arrive and we really will have a full boat!
