Well, discovered that the part we were waiting for had actually arrived a few days ago but they{UPS) had wrong contact tel number grrrr!
Mark had to walk to the border to clear customs to enable us to obtain the part. All elated until Mark, whilst trying to replace said piece dropped a small plastic washer onto the deck and it disappeared out of sight!
Guess what, marina chandleries did not stock any, surprise, surprise. It seems as if Gib wants us to stay!!! Managed to get a few from a small DIY store.
Had a pleasant family dinner with Deidre and said our farewells.
Next marathon was stocking up on camping gas, only one place in Gib, Eastern Beach. We rang first to make sure someone was there before we set off on the trek to the gas supplier. We found, with difficulty, a small shack tucked out of the way which has flexible opening hours!
It was funny though because we were like something out of the Pied Piper as other visiting yachtsmen on seeing us return with gas canisters, promptly descended on us asking where we had been to get them.
It really seems odd that a large port such as this has very poor  amenities for basic items for the cruising yachts person.ps don't believe everything you read in 'pilot books'.
Plan to move off early tomorrow morning after refueling.
