Despite reassuring information from the weather gribs we are having a second day of strong wind and big following sea in between periods of windless calm. These are unpredictable  and volatile conditions when there should be steady and dry trade wind by this time of year.
On the plus side the new rigging seems to be holding up  (as well as the mast of course) and the Hydrovane has steered beautifully throughout. The wind speed information is now intermittent, however.
We estimate arrival in Victoria sometime during Sunday night. Although we have been using the cruising chute and mainsail from time to time we are otherwise running under the genoa alone. In these unpredictable conditions we are opting for a more comfortable passage than fast.
