9 days into the passage sees us below Sri Lanka and settling into a passage routine.
Scrabble has been resumed and one game all thus far. Lunch is taken over the Archers weekly omnibus which I have discovered are still downloading. We are up to the end of January.
The regulator for the Duogen (Dewie) is still dumping most of the energy produced into the resistors and the solar panels dominate the recharging process. Peter at Eclectic Energy advises bypassing the regulator and connecting the Duogen directly to the batteries. This would certainly show how much current the Duogen is producing but, given that we are able to maintain at least 96% battery charge as things are, I am reluctant to intervene mid passage.
The Hydrovane (Hewie) steers us silently and uncomplainingly and without this we would have difficulty maintaining battery charge without use of the engine.
The rigging looks good and Vega is sailing beautifully close to the wind. Jai the rigger has been in touch and as a result I will put a little more tension into the backstay but otherwise leave things alone.
The sun beats down after some cloudy days. Last night the full moon shone as the sun set and this morning they reversed roles. Venus and Mercury were very clear this morning.
Some of you may remember the two little robots Hewie and Dewie and their interplanetary terrarium.
