Annie and I are both a bit jaded after two weeks at sea with night watches and broken sleep patterns. Still, we have caught up with Jon on Hecla who set off four days before us from Phuket. Colin and Izzi on Endorphin, who set off initially with Hecla, had to return to the marina for rudder repairs. Once this was sorted they set off again but straight into thunderstorms that sounded worse than the ones we encountered. They now have a badly torn mainsail after it stuck in the in-mast furling in 44kts of wind. And then just for good measure their water maker drive belt overheated and filled the engine room with smoke. Their passage seems to have settled into a gentler regime and we look forward to seeing them again in three or four days time.

So for us it’s a few days to tidy up the boat, try and fix the Duogen battery charging issues and get a few good nights sleep.
