We had Jean Francois and Annick over to the boat on Wednesday morning and
then in the afternoon picked up a rental car, as we needed some fuel for the RIB
and there is no water side fuel pontoon, everyone takes their fuel cans to
the garage next to the airport – how bizarre. So we made good use of it and
drove around the island, stopped for lunch, swum and snorkelled and
shopped.
It’s been warm, about 28, but overcast with a strong breeze which has kept
the temperatures down nicely, but the photos of the island don’t really do it
justice. We have had 2 easy days in the anchorage at Anse de Colombiere and went
on board Magic last night, an Oyster 53, to join Nick
and Susan for drinky poohs, after I had spent the morning doing engine,
generator, oil and strainer checks.
Today we have swapped out the freezer water pump and are bringing the
freezer back on line at around +2 degrees to keep the beer and wine cool.
We got a email from Nicky & David to say that
Artemis is being crewed by Sam Goodchild and Nick
Cherry and that on Friday 11 they were in 9th place having blown out their big
spinnaker and now expect to be in on Monday 14 in the afternoon. I have just
been across the anchorage speaking to Lester and his wife on
Truant, a Van Dam 55, and they were racing during
Antigua Classic Week on Jambalaya with Sam’s dad, Bob !! – small world
So on Sunday we are going back into the anchorage at Gustavia to join the
Race Village Party – watch this space
