Good Friday set off from Newtown River
as coming up to springs and didn’t have enough water to stay on buoy. So
set off in force 8 severe gale force 9 across to Beaulieu river, set a deeply
reefed main and stay sail, siled on a close reach to Beaulieu with the wind
going through 40 knots, heres a picture with David helming in the typical Easter
Bank holiday weather, hail stones, rain and winds gusting 40 knots…. Picked
up a buoy which was quite a feat in the windy weather only to be moved on by
the Harbour Master as we were too big for the buoy, he made us go into the marina.
We berthed on the hammerhead E17 and were charged £29.00 Inc electric, still on
winter rates luckily. Walked to the Master Builder pub and had lunch and well
earned drink.
