You know when you are getting near land cos your mobile goes off with a “Welcome to our Network” SMS – wakes you up. But we did get a really nice surprise from Bob & Lin, who we met in St Peter Port in Guernsey in 2004. Wow, how is that for friendship – this sailing circuit is amazing offering the chance of making so many friends with whom you instantly have many things in common, it seems you have known them all your life. He said that morning as he went downstairs to make tea, he saw us just offshore dropping our main, right in front of his home. We saw Bob later at the marina bar and we are meeting for drinks on Suzie Too and then going to their home for a BBQ Saturday evening.

 

The first day, we were a little jet lagged, but hit the beach, the bar and then ate at the yacht club – very novel after 2 weeks and no washing up – well that doesn’t affect me anyway – cos my job is driving the boat. Now we have a rental and have driven around the island, including a visit to a restored sugar plantation – which is now making rum.
