We were all set to check out this morning from Luperon and “Papo” (the
local anchorage fixer) came over in his boat to check on us to see if we needed
diesel or water etc. Suzanne asked if he would take her in to the Marina Guerra
(Coastguard) to get the “Despacho” to allow
us to move to the next port – he looked concerned and rang the big boss and the
answer was “No, no boats are allowed to leave today with the strong winds”
So a revision to Plan B and a trip to the water falls, which we had planned
to do Monday but it rained most of the day, at Dama Aqua to climb / swim up and
then ride down for a high speed enema. The country side is really lovely, the
people very friendly and it feels almost like Brazil, we loved it. The
facilities at the falls were quite amazing and the walk up was fairly easy with
the guides telling us the different tress and bushes – even showing us a
chocolate (cocoa) tree and a fully inclusive lunch with Bohemia beer – just hit
the spot
