7:44.031 S, 079:35.521 W Hugging the coast with
love as we have less current, bouncing, pounding once in a while, we are making
our way South under power only with a little bit off main for stability.
Winds are ranging 12 to 15 true to 22 apparent. Not
the best for a sailboat but it will be like this until we reach 34 degrees South
in Chile where the wind will start coming from the west. With the high mountains
of the Andes in the back, the beautiful coast line is offering large bays
that could not be visited due to regulations. Bummer. Sky is hazy, the air is
cooler thanks to the Humboldt current running North. The days are a
succession of watches and maintenances with the ritual position report early
morning where we check our progress. For the last 24 hours, 146.9 miles on the
water and 118.2 on the ground giving a 1.2 kn of current in the nose, water
temperature is 28.6 C (82F) SOG 5kn, COG 161.

courant contraire,tappant et roulant bords sur bords nous nous frayons un chemin
Sud, sous moteur uniquement avec un peu de grand-voile pour la
stabilite.
Les vents sont entre 12 a 15 noeuds vrais et 22
apparent. Pas terrible pour un voilier mais il en sera ainsi jusqu’au 34 degres
Sud au Chili ou les vents vont commencer a venir de l’ouest. Avec les
hautes montagnes de la Cordilliere des Andes dans le fond, la cote offre de
larges baies qui ne peuvent etre visitees a cause de la legislation. GRrrrr. Le
ciel est brumeux, l’air plus frais du fait du courant Humboldt qui court
Nord .Les jours sont une succession de quarts de nuit et d’entretien avec le
rituel point de la matinee ou nous faisons le point des dernieres 24
heures: 146.9 miles nautiques sur l’eau et 118.2 sur le fond , donnant un
courant contraire de 1.2 noeuds. Temperature de l’eau a 28.6C Vitesse fond 5 nd,
compas fond 161 degree.

 We saw hundred of these “old fashion” fishing boats trailing theirs lines
20 miles offshore. Leaving the coast around 3 am and returning 3pm
Nous avons vu des centaines de ces “ vieilles facons “ de peche tirant
leurs lignes 20 miles au large. Ils quittent la cote vers 3 am pour retourner
vers 3 pm.
