13:22.791 N 081:22.397 W Three days and three
nights 420 miles MoBay down to Isla Providencia, Colombia. Rough passage.
We started with an easy down wind sailing, a well behaved newly formed NE
swell in the back, then in the open ocean a second swell SE installed long
time before was trying to maintain it rights . One was building on the top of
the other as we were sailing in diagonal, Up she rises, rolls on the top and
down on the back of the swell again, and again.Tiring. Winds from the E/NE
18 to 24 kn with gust to 35 in the squalls: welcome back to the Tradewinds. Mood
on board was somber but at least we were sailing on a broad reach. Day 1
we managed, Day 2 we were settled in a routine and we were lucky, catching
two Mahi-Mahi on the two lines at the same time ( 1x2’, 1x3’).Clean up was
another battle as blood was all over the place.But fresh fish at last!. As we
entered the channel to the harbor in the morning of day 4, we were hailed
by the Colombian coast guard on the VHF: where coming from, how many on board,
boat registration, firearms, drugs . After a”Welcome to Colombia , we proceeded
to the anchorage. Beautiful setting, large bay, flat water we dropped the anchor
in 10’ of water with sandy bottom.
Trois jours, trois nuits, 420m de Mobay vers Isla
de Providencia, Colombie. Dure traversee. Nous commencons par du vent
arriere avec une gentille nouvelle houle du NE de l’arriere et puis au
large on rencontre une deuxieme houle du SE , bien longtemps installee et qui
cherche a maintenir ses droits. L’une montait sur le dos de l’autre alors que
nous fillions en diagonal. Le bateau montait, roulait au dessus et redescendait
sur le dos de la vague ainsi de suite.. Tres fatiguant. Vent de secteur E/NE 18
a 24 nd , rafales a 35nd dans les grains.Bienvenue de retour dans les
alizees.L’humeur a bord etait sombre, mais au moins nous avions du vent portant
grand largue. Premier jour: on a fait avec. Jour 2 routine normale et nous avons
ete chanceux de capturer 2 dorades
coryphenes. Le nettoyage du bateau a
ete une autre bataille avec du sang partout. Mais au moins nous avions
enfin du poisson frais. Dans le chenal d’acces au port ,on s’est fait appeler a
la radio par les garde-cotes Colombiens qui nous ont demande plein de questions:
d’ou on venait, combien de personnes a bord, les # du bateau, armes,
drogue(!),Apres un Bienvenue en Colombie nous sommes arrives au mouillage.
Belle large baie, mer plate mouillant l’ancre dans 3m sur un fond
sabloneux.
