9:22.03 N, 79:57.06 W To transit the canal, the boat has to be measured
so they can arrange lock space with different type of boats and also
determine the fees to be paid. Diego came on Friday morning to explain us the
whole thing and measure the boat (43’ anchor to radar...)
We will have to go to the bank later, pay the
fees and then we will have our transit date ( which can be pushed
off with a 48 hrs notice which we will do since we are not ready
yet...)
Within 48 hrs from the transit, we will get the 4
lines ( 3/4”-125’ ) 8 tire/fenders and we will chase down three able
bodies to help us ( we need 4 line handlers + skipper). Most people want to
transit on somebody else boat to get the experience before their turn.
Pour passer le canal, le bateau doit etre mesure
afin d’organiser l’espace d’un sas en fonctions des types de bateaux et aussi de
determiner le cout du passage. Diego est venu Vendredi matin nous expliquer le
systeme complet et mesurer le bateaux ( 43’ de l’ancre a l’antenne radar). Nous
devront aller a la banque payer et a partir de la, nous aurons notre date de
passage (date que nous pouvons repousser sur preavis de 48hrs , ce que nous
ferons car nous ne sommes pas pret)
48hrs avant le transit, nous devont rassembler 4
lignes de 18mm x 40m , 8 pneus /pare battages et nous devront aussi chercher 3
equipiers ( 4 line handlers + skipper). Generalement , les equipages se
proposent afin d’avoir l’experience pour leur tour.

season is December to April

A very large cruise ship will pay around $100K, Freighter $75K
& up , us $854 and we are moving more water in the lock than these
guys...
Un gros bateau de croisiere paiera environ $100K, cargos $75K et +, Nous
$854 et nous ferons deplacer plus d’eau......
