him....But his presence is felt all over the island, from visitor center
to center of interpretation ( explaining the Galapagos history and future) and
street named after him.Since we did not have a visa, we were allowed 20
days and only in this harbor: Puerto Baquerizo de Moreno . Price to stay is
variable from boat to boat without any good reasons. We pay $565 (including the
agent fees ($100) who is doing all paperwork ) While a smaller boat had to pay
$825...The new thing for the national park ( to
get money) is to send a diver to inspect your hull and charge or not $100. We
got the diver and did not pay While “Daemon” did with a clean bottom. Go
figure. If the bottom is dirty, they will send you 50 miles offshore to get it
cleaned up .We filled up on fuel not at the local station ($1.02/Gal only for
locals) not thru the agent at $ 5.50/gal but thru a dive boat at $3/gal direct
into the jerry cans. They also gave us fresh water from their water maker. By
the way we had to do it at night....Yesterday we went for a 5 hrs taxi tours of
the island . Visit of the volcano lake 2700 feet altitude , the only source of
fresh water for the island, Visit of the center to rehabilitate the turtles (
pop 300 000 in the 1800 down to 3000 now- Island of San Cristobal). Because the
island is a park, we cannot go outside designed trails . So we cannot get
as close to take pictures but we see a lot of birds ( Finch, Stern, Frigates,
Blue footed bobbies( bomb diver !) Pelicans. mocking birds and other. the famous
sea lions that invite themselves in our cockpit leaving poops, hairs, oily
residue and digested foods, Yuck!. They are only beautiful in the water, on
land, they are louds, smelly and always fighting for a place to sleep ! More to

Non, nous ne l’avons pas rencontre , mais sa
presence est partout, de l’office du tourisme au centre “d’interpretation” (
expliquant l’historique et le futur des Galapagos) et une rue a son nom. N’ayant
pas de visa,on nous a donne 20 jours et uniquement dans ce port “Puerto
Baquerizo de moreno”. Le prix de l’escale varie de bateau a bateau sans
raisons particulieres. Nous avons paye $565 ( incluant le transitaire ($100) qui
fait tous les papiers), alors qu’un bateau plus petit a du debourse $825.
Nouvelle invention du parc est l’inspection de la sous marine des bateaux en
envoyant un plongeur et chargeant $100 ou non. Nous n’avons pas paye mais
“Daemon” avec une carene prope a du payer. A ne rien comprendre.Si le
bateau est sale, le parc vous envoie au large (50 mi) pour nettoyer. Nous avons
fait le plein de diesel non pas a la seule station service ( $1.02/gal), ni avec
le transitaire ($5.50/gal) mais avec un bateau charter de plongee a $3 /gal !
Nous avons pu aussi faire le plein d’eau douce . Transaction de nuit
uniquement... Hier ,nous sommes alles pour un tour en taxi de l’ile. Visite du
lac du volcan 900m d’altitude, la seule source d’eau de l’ile. Visite du centre
de rehabilitation des tortues( pop 300 000 en 1800 et 3000 maintenant- ile de
San Cristobal). Comme l’ile est un parc, nous ne pouvons pas vagabonder en
dehors des sentiers marques, ce qui fait que nous ne pouvons pas prendre des
photos de pres de la faune ou flore. Nous voyons beaucoup d’oiseaux (
Finch,Sterne, Fregate, bobbies aux pieds bleus(sacre plongeur),pelicans et
autres. Les lions de mer qui s’invitent a bord du cockpit laissant leurs
dejections, poils, residue gras et de la nourriture digeree.... Yuck .Ils sont
magnifiques dans l’eau mais a terre sont bruyants, puants et se
battant toujours pour une place pour dormir. A+
