Sadly the gorgeous Lucy has left, the boat is fuelled up and nearly stocked with food and I am having second thoughts about leaving. I've been enjoying myself more here as time goes on and some of the islands sound like excellent places to go with great surf and fun company. But I'm committed now so depart I must. Its time to make an appearance in Oz as I've been self indulgent for long enough now. Time to face the harsh reality of a cold Melbourne and getting into some work. I'd better be careful what I write as I'm talking myself out of leaving but I am looking forward to the ten to fourteen day sail solo. It is probably the most difficult leg so there is a degree of trepidation but everything has been checked and hopefully all will be well.
Lucy and I had fun together. We went to all the different resorts to see who made the best Pina Colada and the verdict was that the ones at the marina were best. The prices at the resorts were ridiculous and the quality poor. You were paying for the facilities but they weren't worth it. Being on a boat in a marina is so much better than being a tourist in a resort. When you arrive by boat you are immediately a local (or closer to it) than a tourist can ever hope to be and you have more interaction with the locals.
The locals here are great, very friendly and helpful and they always come armed with a smile. I'm heading off for my last non Stu cooked meal which I intend to savour as my cooking is best described as minimalist when sailing. Hopefully I'll lose a few of the pounds I've gained here.
