The wind has swung to the north (nne) and is giving a delightful reach to the port of Apia. There is 65 miles to go but it looks like I'm running a couple of hours late to enter the harbour and I may have to cruise around outside for the night which is a little frustrating. This boat only has one speed and I may have to tow a drogue out the back to slow it up. If I had the bravado I could have flown the spinnaker which would have got me in there in daylight but I'm just not crazy enough.
The settled weather is great though. Gave me a chance to tidy up and to cook a decent breakfast of scrambled eggs without wearing it while trying to cook. I really enjoy the clear skies at sea. When you get to land the clouds build up and spoil things a bit. Last night the moon didn't rise till mid morning and the stars were just beautiful. Meteorites were flashing every few minutes and the colour of the planets was very clear.
I have no idea of what to expect in Apia. This is a bit unusual for me as I normally do a bit of research and have a bit of an idea but this time nada. Going in blind with no expectations so it could be amusing. All I know is that Samoan men make big and scary rugby players.
