And the good news is, that means that we'll be there before last orders!!  Hooray!

OUR LAST 3 DAYS
Just to give a flavour of the last three days, we've had generally blue skies and its been warm.  We've also knocked out some pretty good mileages - culminating in the last 24hrs run of 194 miles.  Since there is now less than that to the finish it looks like that'll be the record for the trip.  The flip side of the coin in relation to the last three days (and it looks like it'll continue into most of toady as well) is that it is blowing it's nuts off!  Seems to be about 20 knots in the lulls and then gusting up to 25-30-35 knots.  Big waves and irregular direction of wavetrain, so uncomfortable during day, wet and hard to sleep at night!  The occasional wave coming in from the side of the boat throws up a wall of water that drenches everything.  Lovely!  Still, to look forward to is....................ETA 2200HRS TONIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.

RECORD BOAT SPEED
It may yet be beaten, but just set about 5mins ago Clare clocked up 11.2 knots whilst surfing down a wave.  Not bad at all.  Lets hope she doesn't take these skills behind the wheel when next driving her car.

NAUGHTY NAUGHTY
Last night we got overtaken by another boat - the first time that we have actually seen that happen for a long time - probably at least two weeks.  Bit of a cheek really, especially as they came right up behind us to around 100m, which in these conditions was close, as our mainsail was fixed in position with a preventer (basically a bit of string that holds it out to stop accidental gybes).  Our manoeuvrability  is therefore rather limited.  Anyway he got passed us and went on his merry way. Naughty boy.

Rather disappointed not to have seen any wildlife in the lst few days - maybe it's a bit rough or something.  Just the odd flying fish to raise a little smile!

AND NOW
A SHORT MESSAGE FROM HLS
Sorry to all fans of HLS as I hav''nt been able to say much.  As soon as we settle in to St Lucia and some form of sanity returns (we have a lot of drinking to catch up on!) I shall add my thoughts on this trip to the next web log entry.
So, watch this space.
Luv Jak
PS  Very happy 21st to Nicola Cole XXX
