With a Mistral/high
winds forecast for Saturday/Sunday we needed to leave quickly so we can get to
Toulon Friday night (before the winds) to pick Kathryn up
Sunday.
Typically the wind
was Easterly having been Westerly while we were preparing the
boat.
With a newly
serviced engine Sealion purred along happily. As we approached Marseilles the
head wind and waves were building up, gusting 20 knots making headway slower and
somewhat concerning. We knew that our friends in Roanda were some 15/20 miles
ahead so a text to them confirmed that further East the winds were
lighter.
The wind did indeed
ease allowing us eventually to motor 49 miles to the Marina on Embiez Island.
Arriving just after 3.00pm allowed us to go and have a swim from the beach
next to the marina. Very pleasant as the weather is once again quite
hot.
The Island was/is
owned by the Paul Richard family (of Pastis type drink fame) - Very
pretty
Having done a good
mileage today Toulon is only a few hours off
tomorrow.
