Having spent a copule of days in L'Estartit due
to strong NW winds impeding our way, we set of on Friday early in calm seas
and a southerly wind to cross the Bay of Roses and then round the rugged coast
where the Pyrenees meet the Med. to reputably windy French coast North of the
Pyrenees.
We chose a lovely day with a light Southerly wind,
so much was motor sailing.
Just North of the Bay of Roses we discovered there
were a number of Calas that we might well anchor and stay overnight in on our
return if the weather is settled. In particular a town/Cala called Cadaques
(picture attached with white houses in the background).
Pictures show the coastline, including Cap Bear
being the last of the mountains as you come into the low lying area
& beaches of the Roussillon area. Not to mention me getting the French
courtesy Flag ready to replace the now rather tatty Spanish one.
We have decided that after a short while in France
we are going to return to Spain, as much further into France in August will
apparently be quite difficult to get berths. As we want to come home early Sept.
we are going to leave exploring France until either next Spring or
Autumn.
The windy reputation of this area has already
stopped us in our tracks - local strong wind warnings for this afternoon (now
blowing F7ish) and again tomorrow with possible thunderstorms means that we are
here until at least Monday - never mind the beach is nice and its nice to
talking French etc.
