We left Ciotat in
dull weather & an Easterly wind of 12/14 knots. As our destination was
only some 10 miles away so we decided to enjoy the sail and tack slowly
along the coast.
Whilst in the bay of
Ciotat we were buzzed by a seaplane which turned out to be a water collector for
forest fires. They clearly decided to proceed with exercises and kept
landing/skimming the water some 200/300yds from us, lifting off and then dumping
the water. See picture.
With the wind and
clouds it was cool to start with - then around mid-day it started to clear and
we have had a wonderful afternoon of warm sun in Bandol. The weather forecast
seems a bit iffy for another two days then the forecast for the next ten
days is mainly sun and temperatures in the early twenties. See picture of Alison
in her Med sailing gear?!!!
We arrived in Bandol
early afternoon and have had a nice walk around what is a pleasant & quite
pretty town.
