After two days in the glitzy Vilamoura we today
sailed some 15 miles into the Lagoons off Faro. - Generally light winds on
the beam needing a little engine from time to time to keep the speed up.
We are now anchored off an Island between the sea
and Faro (Ilha da Culatra). Chris and I took the tender into the little village
and had two beers for £1.20. We may stay here another day to explore the beachs
and try the tiny restaurant in the village - the fishermen were sitting eating
Oysters with their beer. It is said that some of the boats like it so much
here that they have stayed here 10 years or more.
The water is getting warmer as we get further from
the West Algarve and towards the Med.
Next port planned is a little village Aymonte on
the Spainish side of the river The Rio Guadiana - another sail
of 25 miles or so down the coast.
We then have some bigger legs to Cadiz and
Gibralter.
