We left Cannes this morning in little wind which eventually filled in from the East (ie. head on) so for the first time in a long time we motored  for a few hours. Some 10 miles away we pulled into the bay of Villefranche and dropped anchor for lunch. We thought of staying the night at anchor but 5 miles away was Monaco - we had to try for this.

Well we are here at Port Fontvieille, which while not the famous formula one marina*, it is just around the corner and right under Prince Rainier's Palace on the cliff above us. It is now dark and the cliffs are lit up and all is very pretty. Having arrived at about 4.00pm we have walked much of the Principality - The Palace and old town and the Port of Monte Carlo.

*I did try and go to the Port of Monte Carlo, but when I told them we are 12.5metres they nearly laughed - must get a bigger boat next year.
