All ok now but what a lot of hassle we had checking
in to Greece. We went to the marina police on arrival to be told we had to go
into Corfu Town, find the tax office and pay our tax, what for? who knows? So,
off we went on the bus and found the tax office and paid 30 euros, got our
receipt and came back to the marina, went back to the police to be told that we
had now to take the boat to Corfu commercial harbour, and check in there. We met
Julian and Michelle Friday evening and set off on Saturday morning, after
fulelling up, for Corfu Town. Incidently, p3 is using 3.6 litres per hour of
diesel and that includes unlimited running of the generator, it seems incredibly
economical! Anyway, we ended up hanging around the commercial docks all day, we
arrived around 10 and finally left about 1700, tied between a cruise liner and a
tug, little p3 looked tiny! I eventually got clearance and some complicated form
and instructions telling me we have to check in, and out, of any port with a
port authority, and get our permit stamped, quite ludicrous, why should Greece
be any different from other EEC members?
We motored back to the anchorage off the marina and
had a swim and a pleasant dinner and evening on board. Julian and Michelle went
ashore yesterday and explored Corfu Town, so they had an ok day, and never
complained once, bless em!
