Had a nice couple of days on the Island of Vis with
windy conditions. Left this morning and had a lovely sail. We are retracing our
steps as we have heard from John and Eva that they are in the River near
Sibenik, apparently beautiful fresh water river with waterfalls and all very
lovely, we thought it sounded nce so we are making our way there. Despite a
benign forecast the wind arose to 30 knots and the end of our 25 mile voyage was
engine on and beating through some nasty spiky seas,. Carol suggested that the
dinghy was a little too close to the boat and should we lengthen the tow rope, I
agreed and thoughtlessly untied it, we were sailing at about 7 knots and the
dinghy was nearly wrenchwed from my grasp, I instinctively tightened my grip on
the rope and made it off on the cleat so, we didn't lose the dinghy but, I did
get a nasty rope burn on 2 fingers of my left hand, thepoint of telling you all
this is because Carol then, after cooling down the burn, put HONEY on it, this
stuff that costs a tenner for a little pot, Manuka Honey. Believe me, it is a
miracle healer, within 2 hours the blisters had gone and now, 5 hours later, I
can barely feel it. Weather permitting, we are off tomorrow towards this
river.
