Well, what a beautiful spot, we eventually arrived
here at Porto Teulada about 1800 last night, after 30 hours of motoring over
lumpy sea with no wind we arrived in a North Westerly force 6 to 7, the promised
wind arrived late! We radioed ahead as usual and as usual nobody replied but
there was a Marinero waving to us from a pontoon as we arrived and helped us
moor up, stern to, no problems. The marina has space for 300 boats but is less
than half full, only one other cruising boat here, some folk who we met in
Majorca, so we had drinks with them last night which was nice. The marina is
cheap at 23 euros a night inc. water and electricity. The facilities are few, no
shops, restaurants, bars etc, just a beautiful clean spot in the middle of
unspoilt countryside. The people are friendly althpough I have only one word of
Italian, pigeon Spanish seems to work! Only one m ore overnight passage to
Sicily, but we aim to stay here for a few days and do some walking and
exploring. Saw huge numbers of dolphins on the trip over as well as some
mysterious fins!! There must still be enormous numbers of fish to support all
these dolphions and whales we keep seeing, also a couple of turtles, our
first!
