Hi Everyone,
This mornig we weighed anchor and motored the 20 or
so miles to our current anchorage - a generally bouncy trip due to the fact we
had to lay a course to windward from Haafeva Is, which is on the western side of
the Haapai Group, to Tatafa, which is just inside the eastern fringing barrier
reef. Shortly afeter luch we anchored off Uiha Is and got some school out of the
way, bfeore moving over to our current location.
Once andchored we went ashore for a walk around the
island, finding lots of interesting shells and other artifacts, includig a
rather large vertebrae which looked like it once belonged to a
whale.
The weather here is generally on the improve, with
the easterly breeze easing gradually as a large high pressure system passes
beneath Tonga. We have now settled back into our regular cruising routine and
are having a relaxed time of it. The weekend promises to be fairly social
with a BBQ and volleybal game at neighboring Uoleva Is tomorrow night. On Sunday
we will depart the Ha'apai Group and sail the 85nm to Vava'u overnight to arrive
AM Monday in Nieafu.
Until tomorrow,
TTFN
