Dear All,
Just had another great day! Today was pretty cool
because we got to help out with the construction of a hut for the Rally Boats. I
had the the opportunity to spend some quality "bloke" time in the equivalent of
the PNG Bunnings as we cut down poles and transported them to the beach to bulid
the hut. Clearly there was money on how long the "Dim Dim" would last - the
local ladies won, all I heard was local language and "Dim Dim" followed by huge
laughter. The locals are pretty cool and through working alongsde them you get a
good handle on their culture.
The other good thing that happenned today was that
another five boats turned up - three with kids aboard, one with two girls very
close in age to Grace and Sarah. Tomorrow we will all meet up again on the beach
to continue building the hut and to learn to weave coconut palm into roof
coverings (women's work, apparrently). The girls are having a great time
of it.
So, life in Nivani is pretty cool, and we are
enjoying ourselves immensely. Until tomorrow, TTFN
