So much for the quiet night, was awoken by the massive bass beat from the disco 100m across the other side of the bay at 0200 this morning. Still, we were so tired it didn't bother us for long.
Late start to the morning, Kevin the Caretaker/berth Manager came over for a brew this morning, turns out he is an ex Australian Navy Chief Petty Officer Gunner. Turns out he must have left the navy about the day I joined.
This afternoon we went for a walk around Bluff Hill to have a look at the sights of Napier. We had a walk through the middle of town and then decided to return via the "short" route over the hil, for a toal of about 12 km by the time we got back to the boat. The formula works like this: big walk + no whinging = ice cream. So we went to Rush Munroe Icecream in Aruhiri (where we are berthed) and had the "Totally, wickedly, gynormously, enormorsely hugely awesome ice creams ever". So big in fact, that Sarah who never has any problems putting it all away couldn't finish hers.
Tomorrow will be another quiet day getting things ready for the passage south to the Sounds, which, all things being equal, we will be able to start off on after lunch on Monday. Looking forward to Marie's arrival Monday morning.
Until tomorrow, TTFN
