It was a good night last night, the boat sailed as
straight as an arrow needing no attention from me. On the only occassion I
did go on deck it was warm and clear with that moon, not quite full now,
illuminating everything and shining across the sea. I wish I could capture
the scene but the camera, or me, can't get it right. I was laying in
my bunk when right above my head there was a thumping on the deck, nothing to do
with the boat, it must have been a fish, that's what it sounded like...There was
nothing there in the morning so he must have wriggled back into the sea.
However what I did find on the foredeck was two baby flying fish, they were only
an inch long and to land on the deck they had to be flying a yard above the
water. Presumably they get their elevation out of the front of the
waves?
For all the clear night it was very cloudy and humid this
morning but the wind continues to blow strong out of the west, apart from a
short quiet spell yesterday afternoon, and I did 123 miles to noon
BST. After lunch the sun came down with a vengance and it was a good job
we had plenty of wind otherwise it would have been unbarable.
That's it; something happens everyday, it was baby flying
fish today I wonder what it will be tomorrow?
