This message shold have been sent on Satuday but
it is now Monday afternoon, Mailasail system down over the weekend, still shakey
I think?
Beautiful sunny day, no wind, sails down and the
Noise Box on! (Engine running) We are right in the centre of the
Azores High and can positively confirm there is no wind at it's centre; we
have even had to rig a sun shade over the cockpit for a little
protection.
We put the engine on at 0700 hours this mornining to motor
north out of the centre of the high and into the 'Tram Lines'. The tram
lines are the first two isobars around the High where the wind is usually steady
and a good working strength and north of the high they are westerly and will
blow us home. We will run the engine for 12 hours, then we will
check the fuel levels and the weather forecast before making a judgement on how
much longer we can, or need, to run it.
We've all got our sea legs now, even James, so the boat
handling training must start when the wind finally arrives, then the Skipper can
take his ease while the crew run the ship!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!l
Gorgeous day, we've had 2 dolphins playing round the front
of the boat, a mother and a baby. A small turtle swam past, very close to the
boat, well I say swam it might have been floating.....as in dead..... We've also
seen a big cargo ship, glad it passed by so far away as it was doing a fair old
lick. James is now having a wash on deck, baring all to the world, a big white
bottom shining in the sun!!
Hope tomorrow will be just as good
