The crew is paid off, her comments uncensored
below. After the lousy start on Saturday/night the improvement on
Sunday continued to give us a beautiful sail from Lands End to Plymouth in
bright sun and spinnaker flying until the wind died some 20 miles out. By the
time we reached Plymouth fairway it was dark and it was very difficult to pick
out the buoys against all the lights on the land, so Sandra helmed while I
navigated. But we did OK and tied up at 2300hours Monday night. I must get
my sleeping better organised; my turn to sleep coincided with St David's Head
and Lands End when I had to be on watch.
Consequently I got well behind which is not good
for man nor ship.
Several of the Jesters from the Azores are here and
there has been much yarning and talk of route plans already. Two of the
Russian entrants are here, one in very serious racing trim and certainly the
Jester spirit is here and so Sandra's end of trip is my beginning. Newport here
we come!!

Crews Thoughts at Pay Off:
Freak wave came over the bow and down the back of
the neck 5 mins after removing hood.
Night watch helped along by ipod stuck in Barry
White album "Let the music play"
Star watch searching for:
the girls lovely Venus under her
crescent moon,
Cassiopeia the W, and her seven
sisters
And a trillion others came out
to light our way!
Rum ration, still looking. Only a few clever nooks
and crannies to go! Still optimistic.
Spinnaker watch; there she blows!!
Navigational skills a bit dodgy round St Michaels
Mount but improving round the rugged rocks of Lizard point and marginal into
Plymouth Harbour at night; the Captain's a great teacher.
Permission was requested to be piped off at the end
of a fantastic and memorable trip!
Sandra.
