We had a bit of a lie-in today then went for a morning walk along the ‘Annie Creek’ nature trail. The creek runs just at the back of our campsite. Very peaceful, lots of birds and signs of bigger animals who come to the creek to drink at night. After that we took a drive to Sir John Gorge, where they offer an ‘exclusive’ canoeing option. There is one canoe which, for a pricy amount, you can rent and get the gorge to yourself. Actually there are three canoes at different points as you can’t get all the way in one paddle due to rocks etc. We didn’t take them up on their offer but we did walk (scramble?) to the end of the first section and found the second canoe. The place had an austere, wild feel to it. There wasn’t anyone else there and the walk was pretty hard going so we left it at that and returned to camp stopping at one of the other swimming spots on the Fitzroy on the way back.

Made mistake of going to AWC talk in the evening after dinner. V. cold sitting for an hour hearing about cane toads.
