> We headed out onto the GRR. Extensive sections of tarmac during 1st 100 km but soon became all gravel, heavily corrugated in places. As it’s a Toyota, stopped to lock hubs and engage 4WD AT Windjana turnoff. We stopped at campground and ‘left our towels’ to claim our spot then went on to Tunnel Creek. It’s an impressive limestone cavern through the Lennard Range, which is basically an ancient coral reef that has been uplifted. No fancy tourist stuff here, just a few info boards and advice to take a torch. During the second half you have to wade through some deepish water. Fiona decided to remove her trousers! Fortunately the sight of Fi in her knickers wading through a pitch-black cavern has not been recorded for posterity! We reached the end and she put her pants back on and at that point realised that the phone which had been in her back pocket was no longer there. Oh no.....we cut short our appreciation of the end of the cavern and quickly headed back to the ‘beach ‘ where she’d taken them off, asking anyone we met if they’d seen a phone. As luck would have it we met someone who’d met a woman who’d found an iPhone so we hurried on to catch her up and soon Fi’s phone was safely back in her pocket!
> And so ended our first bit of Kimberley sightseeing - we returned to the Windjana campground to set up our camp for the night.
