We are now officially in Kimberley, albeit only about 11km along the Gibb River Road. We’ve set up camp on a 5000 acre cattle station called Birdwood Downs. It’s well named as there seems to be about 1000 birds of some sort making a helluva racket in the trees around us. The lady who checked us in warned us to keep an eye out for the ‘wildlife’ especially snakes, as ‘they’ve been around’, even though she thought that, at 26°, it was ‘probably too cold for them ‘!
Steak on the barbie tonight.
