Thurs & Fri - 6th & 7th Feb

Thursday was spent cleaning the stainless and drawing plenty of admiring comments which is always gratifying.  We managed to complete all we had planned and so treated ourselves to a meal out in the Greek taverna on the dockside.

There are quite a few OCC boats here which was a surprise and it has been a real pleasure to be able to put more faces to names/voices.

On Thursday night there was  second consecutive night of karaoke and it likely to be the death of this marina as the word spreads about this appalling din that continues on way past midnight.

On Friday we were ready to head off and just had to pick up our laundry that had been promised for Thursday afternoon but had not been ready then (including the sheets we needed to put back on the bed for that night….), do some last minute grocery shopping, check out of the marina and get our clearance papers from customs and immigration. Very little of this went to plan which required 3 trips to customs and chasing up lost sheets which Sarah found hanging on the fence!   Then quite unexpectedly Craig and Karene appeared walking down the dock.  They had hired a car and were on a drive about as their boat is now without a mast and awaiting some work down in Falmouth (Antigua).

We managed to get away around 1 pm in the end after various setbacks and as we made our way past the mooring buoys at the entrance we came across Shaun McMillan on his Spirit yacht ‘Flight’.  We had a quick chat before pressing on to Hermitage Bay where we anchored for the night and prepared Serafina for the 75 mile sail on Saturday north east to St Barths.

Somehow or another I have allowed myself to be talked into joining the 365 project which is a fun commitment to take a photo everyday of something that has a bearing on your day or whatever and post it on their website.  All seems jolly easy until you start and realise that every day is quite an ask! There are no rules as this is not a competition as such, but you cannot just post old pictures because you feel lazy one day.  Our problem already is finding the time each day to go through the pictures taken with this in mind and then choosing the best and having to discard the rest.  Has all the signs of being a typical new year resolution type issue. http://365project.org/rob_bell/365

Mind you Sarah also let Ruffian talk her into doing a drawing a day – every day  to sharpen her skills and she has been very good about this although finding it increasingly hard to find interesting things to draw!
