A hint of ennui perhaps?

Thursday was nice change from the routine as we drove up to Mathews Yacht Club in Deltaville for an Ocean Cruising Club dinner.  This was a very well attended event and we were really pleased to see so many friends there, some of whom had principally  come to see us and say their goodbyes. When the dinner was finished we set off in our hire car following Sid and Rebecca Shaw (Dovka) who had very kindly invited to join them in staying over at a friend’s house nearby. (Well not as ‘nearby’ as we had been led to believe!) But as a bonus Janellen and Bob (Blue Heron) came along as well for a drink or three.

We had a very leisurely morning and a wonderful breakfast cooked by Rebecca followed by a stroll around the grounds of the house and down to the beautiful wooded creek where their friends keep their small wooden sailing boat.

Eventually we made our way back to Hampton, but by now the cold I had been fighting off had taken a good hold and I had again lost my voice!

Sadly as Sarah felt herself also coming down with the lurgy, we had to cancel a visit by David and Candy (Endeavor) who had planned to drive all the way down from Annapolis to spend a last couple of days with us over the weekend.

So it was business as usual just getting things straight for the passage next week and of course Sarah was again busy polishing the topsides as well.

The rally events begin in earnest on Tuesday and if the weather holds we should be heading off early next week. Not sure we need too many parties of social events before then – but this is America.
